Ionic Sound System
Ionic Sound System takes a unique approach to audio reproduction. A special collection of carefully curated parts and components with an end goal of maximum headroom to create an ultra-low distortion, clean and pure listening experience. It is the culmination of a 5 year creative journey by respected Canadian audio nerd Jay Michael currently living in Calgary Alberta.
Bass frequencies are handled using eight 21” short horn loaded hybrid 6th order bandpass subwoofers designed by the highly respected www.data-bass.com mastermind Josh Ricci. The cabinets were expertly handcrafted by Jay Michael using premium 18mm 13 ply Russian Baltic birch plywood loaded with top-of-the-line Italian B&C 21sw152 (2000 watt nominal, 4000 watt continuous) neodymium audio drivers. These unique subwoofers use short horn loading topology to create fast and dynamic transients in the upper bass frequencies, while the lower infra-sub frequencies are handled by 6th order bandpass loading. This advanced subwoofer design can produce impressive low distortion, tactile, high definition bass from 150 to 27 hertz.
Mid and high frequencies are handled by four (1400 watt continuous, 5600 watt peak) Danley Sound Labs SH-46 Synergy Horns created by world renowned speaker designer Tom Danley. Each individual Danley SH-46 Synergy Horn contains a total of 7 separate speaker drivers, Two 12” neodymium low frequency drivers, four 4” mid frequency drivers, and one 1.4” high frequency compression driver all of which are produced by Italian speaker manufacturer Faital Pro. Danley’s patented Synergy Horn technology is the world’s only true phase coherent point source speaker available on the market today. It is considered by many professionals to be the pinnacle of loudspeaker technology, which isn’t that surprising considering the designer used to work for NASA (true story). The Ionic Sound System also uses an additional pair of Danley Sound Labs SM60f Synergy Horns for center fills or dj monitors.
Once fully deployed, the Ionic Sound System can provide the dance floor with 44 separate speaker drivers working in meticulously tuned audio perfection. Powered purely by word of mouth, The Ionic Sound System has quickly become the system of choice for many of Alberta’s busiest promotional groups, providing immaculate sound reinforcement for world class touring artists weekend after weekend.
